Lussekatter

The name comes from the word "Lusse" which is slang for "Lucia" which in turn reffers to St Lucia (a whole different story) and "katt" which translates into "cat". So it's basically St Lucia's cats.

 

Here is what you need

100g butter
5dl milk
50g yeast
250g curd
0.5g saffron
1.5dl sugar
0.5tsp salt
ca 17dl wheat flour
1dl raisin
1egg

Here is how you do:

Melt the butter in a pot.
Pour the milk in the pot and warm to 37?°C.
Stir the yeast with the milkmix.
Grind the saffron with a bit of sugar.
Add the curd, saffron, sugar, salt and most of the flour.
Knead the dough untill it is smooth, add flour if needed.
Let the dough rise under a piece of bakingcloth for 40min.
Turn on the oven, 225°?C. Knead the dough on a flourpowdered
table. Form the lussebuns and place them on a baking tin.
Decorate the buns with raisins. Let the buns rise under the cloth
for another 40min. whip the egg and paint the buns with it.
Put them in the middle of the oven for 5-8min.
